Picture Wall

We have a huge wall in our family room that has been totally empty since we moved in.  Our plan has been to put up family pictures and we finally finished!  I got the layout idea from Pinterest and the frame idea from one of my favorite blogs, Shanty-2-Chic.

Here is what you need:

1 piece of plywood cut to your preferred size.  Mine are 18x18, 28x28, and 28x10
2 sconces stolen from your master bedroom (now I need to find something to replace them)
1 quote printed to the size you want on plain white paper
Cheap frames
Pictures
Hanging hardware

The guy at Home Depot was awesome!  He made all my cuts for me and didn't charge!  I started by staining all my plywood dark walnut.  Then I dry brushed on a bunch of different colors I had sitting around the garage.

I added hangers to the backs of each board.  I then spray painted the cheap frames Heirloom White.  I put a nail in the plywood to hang the pictures from so that I could swap them out.  That was it for the pictures, easy!

The quote I printed out on plain paper and then traced it onto my board.  I used a paint pen to fill it in.  It looks so much better than my normal chicken scratch!

I love the way it turned out.  The wall looks complete now...no big blankness staring at us.

  1. Yes, it really does look good and fills the space well! I didn't even notice the quote last night, but I like it! =)
