When Hubby's Away, Wifey Will Craft!

So Hubby is gone for a few days and I am home with the kids.  Of course I have been diligently scrubbing shopping, cleaning craftingdoing laundry lounging around...hehe.  I did get our china cabinet organized finally and the pile of stuff on our table put away.  The kids and I also went over to my mom's soon-to-be house and did a little painting and cleaning.

But...I have also been working on a fun project for the boy's room.  I saw some posts on Pinterest using these awesome crates from Michael's...

I seem to be mildly obsessed with wood and painting wood recently, so I decided these would be my first experiment.  I wanted a fun color to offset the cream walls and brown wood furniture in the boy's room.  So I got some spray paint and...

Then I distressed them a bit (need to practice this step a bit more :) and went over them with a glaze I tinted brown...

My plan was to put some books in them, but someone else had other plans...

I think I need to make him a few more to fit all his trucks!  :)  He loves them, I love them!

This weekend's agenda consisted of cleaning out and organizing the garage.  Hubby had off Friday and spent the whole day beautifying the garage.  I didn't get any pictures since I was inside creating chaos with kid's clothes.  I didn't take any pictures of that either!  Lucas is moving up a size in clothes, so I have been washing and folding his "new" clothes.  Notice I did not say putting away!  I have no idea where to put all these clothes!!  Well I do have an idea, but it is in my mom's garage and will not be here for a few weeks.  So until we have a second dresser I will have to find a home for this mess besides the couch.

Today we hung up a few pictures in the family room...

Pay no attention to the clothes on the right, the mess in the front, and the pillow on the floor on the left...just notice the nicely hung picture.

Again, disregard all mess, extension cords, oddly placed plants...and just go with me when I say the fireplace is slightly off-center not the clock!

Can you tell I have been having fun with blogger??  Tonight's fun...a new header and colors...next up I am going to figure out how to make a blogger button.  Not tonight though!

I finished a few project today!  Yeah!!  First up, this pin up board that came with the house.  It is on the pantry door...

Not real excited about the leaves, so I decided give it a little make-over.  I found this lovely sage green burlap material at Hobby Lobby (my new favorite store!!).  I stapled it up and shoved it (yes, literally) back in the frame.

I added a few flowers for a bit of fun...

I am liking it much better than the leaves!

Here is a sneak peek at my other Hobby Lobby find from today...

Our new magazine basket!  I need to slim down our magazine collection before I fill her up.

The other project completed today were the towel hooks for the kids bath.  I started these a few days ago, but I was needing some screws that I did not get until today.  First I found this super cute wall decor at Bed, Bath, and Beyond...

Then I found my supplies for the towel hangers at...you guessed it, Hobby Lobby!

I painted the edges brown...

Mod Podged my paper on...

Mod Podged my pictures on and screwed on my hooks...

I love them and so do the kids!!

Here is a preview of my upcoming project...

Stay tuned!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

Here is what I made for Hubby...

I got the idea and printout from one of my favorite blogs,  www.shanty-2-chic.com.

Happy Friday!  I am not sure what we did all week.  The house doesn't look much different than last Friday!  Here is the project we tackled last weekend...

Jenna's closet...and no that is not all the toys!  We bought a built-in shelving kit to bring some order to the chaos.

We need to get a few more shelves or drawers, but it will do for now.  I wanted to find some cute baskets for her shelves and found some at Bed, Bath, & Beyond...three for $40!  Even with the coupon a bit pricey for me.  I decided to check out Target instead and what did they have in their cheap-o section...yep, baskets for $2.50 each.  We also got a couple $1 cute pink ones as well.

On the agenda today were the main bath, which still needed the cabinets cleaned and shelf liner put down, and the master bath, which needed everything scrubbed.  This is what I have been looking at and putting off for way too long...

Time to get to work!  I stuck the kids in the bath and took care of the main bath while they played. Then we took a little break and headed over to Grammy's soon-to-be house and watered the plants. We stopped for lunch and watched the airplanes while we ate before heading home for nap time.

While the kids napped I did laundry...

Dishes...

Hubby did get the dish washer going this evening, yay!

After dishes I wiped down the book shelf and loaded it up with our books...

I started to put the office desk together and then hubby came home so it was time to fix dinner.

Then I helped him load some junk from the garage into the truck to take to the dump...

Have you noticed yet what has not been done today...yeah the master bath.  I told you, I have been putting it off.  I finally dragged my feet in there and did it, but I didn't like it and I took several breaks hoping hubby would pick up where I left off.  :)  Here's the biggest reason for the delay tactics...

Are those...?? Yes, they are! A gazillion huge spiders! I hate spiders, especially when they try frantically to climb up the bath tub walls while I try frantically to wash them down the drain. I managed to succeed with minimal squeals and shrieks.  I now have that "there's a spider crawling on me" feeling.  I think I will be making use of the freshly cleaned bathroom soon!

Slowly, but surely we are getting things cleaned up and put away.  I have spent the last couple days working on the family room area and finally have it in order.  Here are the pictures...

The kids and I took a break today and went and played at one of our outdoor malls.  We rode the train, played in the fountain, went on the carousel, and had lunch.  Much better than scrubbing cobwebs!

We're in!  We're a mess, but we are in!  Saturday was the big move.  Hubby and I loaded most of the house Friday night and then some friends came and helped us out Saturday morning.  The kids were very excited about the big truck!

Starting out!

The end!

Yes, he was on the ramp pretty much the ENTIRE time!  Good thing we decided to get the 26 footer cause we never would have made it in the 17 footer.

Ugh...the fun begins, or continues.

Hubby told me to get busy and I told him to go fly a kite, so...

Haha!  We decided to take Sunday afternoon off and have some fun with the kids.  Logan loved the kite flying!  Jenna was not very impressed and played on the toys instead.  Sunday night and Monday it was back to work and by very late Monday night or very early Tuesday morning here's what we were looking like...

Ahhh...much better!

We decided to make the eating area a play area for the kids, so here is their setup.

The pantry.

Today I cleaned one of the bathrooms, cleaned and organized the wet bar closet, and put the guest room together.  You only get pictures of the guest room since the others really are not that exciting.

Who's going to be the first to test it out?!

Did I mention that our dishwasher has quit working?  We are putting off having someone come look at it in hopes that it will change it's mind and resume it's duties.  Until then I have a replacement...
